How Voice and Multimedia Build Excitement for Your Business Conference
About SOCAP International
Founded in 1973, the Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Business (SOCAP International) represents a thriving global profession of best-in-class customer care experts across all industries. SOCAP is a member-driven organization committed to promoting customer care and customer engagement as a competitive advantage in business. The Association’s members include vice presidents, directors, managers and supervisors of customer care and consumer affairs from top Fortune/Forbes 1000 companies as well as hundreds of business partner organizations. SOCAP provides the educational tools and professional resources to help its members drive business transformation within their companies. Additionally, SOCAP’s exclusive network gives members access to thousands of customer care experts across the globe.
Typical Event Registration Efforts
Most trade shows and business events are promoted in a similar way. Several months before the conference, graphical emails will go out to potential registrants. An exhibitor manual or show guide will be printed and mailed or posted online. A website will go live, listing all sponsors, exhibitors, speakers and sessions as the event rounds into shape. All of these efforts are good and necessary, but they require the potential attendee to dig around for the points of interest, which is problematic if the event doesn’t generate immediate interest or curiosity. GM Voices started a dialogue with SOCAP on how to create an engaging, one-stop production that would detail the essential who, what, where, when, why and how (for registration) of its events.
Breaking Outside the Box
In fitting with its core competency, GM Voices recommended a voice narrated production to detail the schedule, sessions and speakers of the SOCAP events. But how to combine the voice with an event-consistent visual style? Conveniently, SOCAP developed visual branding that fit the look and personality of the host city (first Las Vegas, then Miami, Baltimore, San Diego, and New Orleans for subsequent events). GM Voices simply adopted similar images, graphics and colors to maintain a consistent look with SOCAP’s other event materials.
Just Click ‘Play’
The result of the collaboration was a concise, professional video that outlined the essential benefits of a SOCAP national event. With one click of a ‘play’ button, potential attendees were informed about industry community sessions, trend sessions, research developments, keynotes, and registration deadlines. No scrolling, no searching—a perfect vehicle for reaching the modern, busy customer care professional. “The videos GM Voices creates for our national events always illicit a great response from our membership community,” said Brian Cheung, Director of Marketing for SOCAP International. “They’re versatile productions that can be used in our emails, on our website, or can be shared between colleagues. They make a difference to our overall registration efforts.”
