1. You joined the competition late, but still managed to claim second place. How did you accomplish that?
I wasn’t going to join initially because I work too much with the two jobs I have and I don’t move a lot, but my knee doctor told me I need to run in place for at least 1-2 hours every day. So, I decided it would be a good reason to join the competition. Every morning, I did my two hour routine plus chores around the house. By then, my day already began with 20,000 steps. Another 10,000 was averaged playing with my daughter in the evening for about 2-3 hours. There were days I did more, especially when I moved into my new house. I broke 40,000 that day because I walked for 11 hours.
2. Did you have a daily goal?
Not really. As a matter of fact, I didn’t even look at my Fitbit until the end of the day when I placed it on the nightstand.
3. How did your habits and routines change during this competition?
I used to go to bed at 2-3 in the morning, but since I had to workout my knees every day, I went to bed earlier and woke up at 3-4am. This is the only habit I changed. The 12 pounds I lost in the process was a plus.
4. What was your favorite aspect of the challenge?
The fact that I was able to combine the doctor’s requirement with the competition was the most attractive part.
5. What was the craziest thing you did to move up in the competition or reach your daily goal?
I don’t remember doing anything crazy because I didn’t expect to be in the top three. It was unexpected, but I won’t complain.
